This museum, partly located in the old town hall and in other places throughout the city, represents Leipzig’s history from the foundation of the city in the early Middle Ages until today. Go on a time journey and experience the multifarious and very interesting history of Leipzig, may it be the time of the Battle of Nations or the Industrial Revolution, the two World Wars or the GDR. Very special and creepy is the dungeon in the old town hall. Here you can learn what right and justice felt like back in the dark ages, you will be introduced in Leipzig's most "famous" criminal cases and you can see lots of torture equipment and weapons, for example the sword that was used for the last execution in town.
