Dessau belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage - because of the extraordinary architectural style called Bauhaus.
The Bauhaus school was created by Walter Gropius and during the 20th century it developed a whole new style of architecture, arts, culture and design. Clear and simple structures, much light and most important: functionality. You can visit the famous Bauhaus University and the Museum but if this is too boring for you just have a stroll through the city and you experience Bauhaus architecture live and on every corner.
Just a few kilometres away you can stroll through the Gardens of Wörlitz, one of the oldest and most beautiful landscape parks in Europe, that also belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage.
