Have you ever heard the names of Goethe, Schiller, Bach, Liszt - no? yes? However, if you have a little time in Leipzig and if you're a little bit into culture and arts you should definitely take the train to Weimar in Thuringia. Since the beginning of the 19th century this pretty little town has been the cultural and intellectual centre of Germany. It's the capital of German "Klassik". Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller - the two V.I.P.'s in German literature - lived and loved and suffered here as well as famous musicians and composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Liszt or admired painters like Lucas Cranach.
Nearby you can visit Castle Wartburg - today it belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage. Or visit the memorial site Buchenwald, a former Nazi concentration camp - and learn something about the darkest chapter of German history.
